When making a big decision regarding love, whether to give it a shot or not. Whether to commit fully or play it safe. Whether to dive in or continue to check the water. The hardest question is always this: "Do I really love him/her?". For me, these are some of the things I experience, which makes me sure of what I'm feeling.
If you are both in good terms, you don't only feel okay. you feel happy.
If you are not in good terms with one another, you feel bad, or sad, and wish it isn't like that.
You worry that you might hurt him/her.
You feel comfortable talking nonsense with that person.
It feels painful thinking of the possibility that that person might end up with someone else and not you.
You feel appreciated, and feel you want to do better for him/her.
You change for the better for him/her.
You become a better person because of him/her.
Sometimes (or always) you just miss that person. You don't really know what to do or what to talk about, but you just want to have an interaction/conversation.
A simple conversation or communication can be the best part of your day.
His/her mood affects your mood.
You're able to not only tolerate, but appreciate little flaws and imperfections that person have.
You keep thinking about him/her.
You hope you'll never leave one another.
You don't mind discussing complicated issues with him/her.
You constantly feel like talking about him/her.
Random things just remind you of him/her.
You care about what he/she cares about.
You compromise for him/her.
You think about your life with him/her.
You factor him/her when planning your future.
You want your friends/family to like that person.
You always make time for him/her.
You feel jealous.
You want him/her to be the first to know every good news or bad news you have.
Even his/her smallest gestures can make you feel better. And simple things can hurt you.
He's/she's the first person you think about.
You think long term.
You feel complete.
That person is your best friend and you can do anything together.
And something to really consider:
Sometimes it's not about who you want to be with, but who you can't be without. If they're the same person, that'd make things a lot simpler.
